A reliable and good walkie talkie headset should offer the users not only good voice quality, but it should also be solid enough to last for a long time. At places where communication is required within a particular area, small range walkie talkies can also be used to fulfill the need.

Wlakie Talkie Headset - My Thoughts

2 way walkie talkie radios are unique in that the half-duplex channel they operate on will only allow one radio to transmit at any time, though there are no limits to the amount that can listen. Rather than have an earpiece similar to a telephone, they have a built in speaker so the unit does not have to be held to the ear. They are used to connect to both other handheld units and to radio stations which are in a fixed location. The typical shape is of a large telephone handset, with a fixed antenna poking out of the top of the unit.

There are walkie talkie headsets that come in pairs. Sometimes, these are the models that children want because they would like to play with their friends. This is a bargain for you because you get two headsets for just a price of one. Check also for the sizes of these double headsets. Gauge whether these can be word by children who will eventually play with these. If it means spending the extra dollar for a perfect fit, do so. Walkie talkie headset is such a cool toy to have and your child will have a blast just playing with it.

Some 2-way radios will go as little as a few hundred feet, which will only cost about ten dollars or so, while others will have long distant ranges, some of up to 10 to 15 miles or so. These may cost a little more, but will be worth it for the clarity and great reception they provide. It is all dependent on each individuals needs. Kids to not need long distance range the majority of the time, but big businesses will.

Walkie Talkie History & Info

The fist radio audio transmitter and receiver that was coined with the name walkie talkie radio was created by Motorola. The group involved created the Motorola SCR-300 using frequency modulation. This first revision was actually backpack mounted.

Not long afterward, during World War 2, Motorola produced what was called a Handie Talkie which rather confusingly is what we would now recognize as a Walkie Talkie. It had massively reduced performance, but was the first completely self contained handheld device.

There are 2-way long range walkie talkie radios that will provide long distance rage communication. Many will go as far as 12 miles. The most commonly used walkie talkie devices are the ones that are hand held and contain a button on the side that you push to speak. They are great and come in very handy for many things. They are often used while camping, hiking, shopping, home projects, and even in businesses like construction.

These walkie talkie devices provide a clear, easily accessible way to talk to someone who is not close enough to speak to face to face. Many of the two-way radios have clips and other accessories like 2-way radio headsets so that the radio can clip to your pant and allow for easy and simple access to the radio.

The transmission range that the companies typically promote is up to 20 miles although according to the terrain you would be lucky to actually reach a 2 mile limit. Being trained previously in electronics and radio in particular I find walkie talkies to be only as effective as a line of sight signal. If you encounter a hill or mountain you can just about be assured that you will not be able to communicate at all.

Uses For Walkie Talkie Radios

Walkie talkies are widely used nowadays in both consumer and commercial environments, for example outdoor recreations, business use, military and public safety. As a result of this the prices and quality of the units vary greatly, from kids walkie talkies to rugged digital units for heavy industry and business use.

As radio technology has improved, and reduced in size, so have the housings. Normally, you will find the commercial long range walkie talkies are tougher, in protective cases and limited to a select few frequencies. Consumer versions on the other hand like walkie talkies for kids tend to be smaller, more lightweight and capable of scanning across far more channels within the band. Kid’s walkie talkies are generally low power units, and as a result are exempt from license requirements. Though they often appear the same as fully featured versions.

Another popular type of accessory for these radios are 2-way radio headsets. These items provide a great way to communicate without having a device stuck to your side. Many headsets come equipped with an auto talk feature that means when you speak it automatically transmitted to the receiver end. This has eliminated the need to push a button to communicate to the person at the receiving end. They are also quite comfortable and they provide a great fit onto most head sizes. They will expand and retract for different sized heads.

The great thing about buying a two-way communication set for children is the fact that it can be purchased typically for fewer than 30 bucks. For a mere $30 or less you will get a long lasting toy radio that won't grow old anytime soon. It may even last them for several years. What other toy in their toy box can do that so easily.

Typically, it takes a child a whole three minutes to get tired of the toy, and it might get brought out of the toy box once a year. However, it will all change with a pair of walkie-talkies because they will be unable to put them down for weeks at a time. Kids love the simple things, such as the boxes the toys come in. This is a definite way to keep children occupied for hours at a time. Playing outside will even become more fun when they can run around the house communicating with each other by just pushing a button.
